Filming in Sedona
Sedona is surrounded by the Coconino National Forest which is federally owned land but NOT a National Park. Most of the red rock formations are on forest service land. The Coconino National Forest requires a special use permit for all commercial filming and photography.
- The only exception is print photography of SCENERY ONLY (no models or props).
- Breaking news does not require permits. News features on Sedona does not constitute breaking news.
- Filming from roads and
highways on National
Forest lands also requires a permit.
- Typically, permits are NOT issued on weekends (including Fridays) and holidays.
